IMMUNITY BOOSTING HABITS FOR FALL

Cold and flu season is officially upon us. With the pandemic, it feels all the more important to do everything we can right now to care for our immune systems. I’ve been trying my best to adopt some healthy habits to give my immune system a boost, and I wanted to share some very simple things you can start doing right now.

As an added bonus, I notice that when I do these things, I feel so much better in general. I have more energy and my mood improves. It’s a win-win!

    1. Elderberry. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn’t, but I think it’s worth trying! I take it as a syrup every day, but they also exist in gummy form for those of us who can trust themselves to only eat the recommended dose. (They’re just too delicious!)

        2. Exercise. Yes, exercise boosts your immune system. Grab your Candy Crop Leggings and get moving!

            3. Essential oils. I’m always diffusing essential oils, especially in the fall and winter. Not only do they support your immune system, but they smell delightful. My favorites are lavender (relaxing), cinnamon (for cozy ambiance), and grapefruit (energizing).

                4. Eating a balanced diet. I think all of us know this one, but it’s probably the hardest to actually follow through with! To make it easy on myself, I just try to sneak in extra fruits and veggies where I can, like a handful of spinach in my smoothie or making pumpkin mac and cheese instead of plain. Get those vitamins!

                    5. Sleep! How many of us actually get 8 hours of sleep? I am willing to bet not many of us do, especially in these crazy Covid times, and sleep is such an important part of fighting off disease! Turn off your screens an hour before bed and do something relaxing. Your quality of sleep will improve, and I promise after a week of good sleep, you’ll be addicted to the extra energy and clear-mindedness!

                        6. Ginger. Ginger is popular for its immunity-boosting properties. I add some grated ginger to my morning smoothie, or I drink it at night as tea. It’s best to make fresh ginger tea to get all the benefits, and it’s super easy. Add grated ginger to hot water, let it steep for 10 minutes, and then drain. Add some honey and/or lemon—both are also great for the immune system!

                          Stay healthy, everyone!
